NDR Blue is a digital radio station of the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR), which is mainly broadcast via DAB + in the states of Hamburg , Lower Saxony , Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The first broadcast of NDR Blue , at that time still under the name NDR Music Plus was made without public announcement on May 2, 2008. The program includes reps find music broadcasts from the current night program of NDR Info such as the Night Lounge or the nightclub .

history

The new digital radio began broadcasting on May 2, 2008 under the name NDR Musik Plus . From the start of the broadcast until 2012, the program schedule of NDR Musik Plus consisted largely of repetitions of the nightly NDR info music program. It mostly consisted of the NDR Info broadcasts Nightlounge and Nachtclub. The program was supplemented by news and the weather every hour on the hour.

When the broadcasting of the ARD stations via DAB was discontinued on June 1, 2011, the broadcasting of NDR Musik Plus paused. With the start of digital radio via DAB + on January 5, 2012, NDR Musik Plus renewed its broadcasting.

Since January 5, 2012, the station has been broadcasting via DAB + and also via Internet livestream. The station slogan was: "Sounds like more". In the course of the DAB + restart, the NDR considered introducing a more catchy name for the program. The name NDR Blue was discussed at the time , but it was not clear whether the renaming would also be legally feasible. On October 23, 2012, the station was finally renamed NDR Blue .

With the new name, a new program scheme started with its own programs such as NDR Blue Morning and NDR Blue After Work, and the station was given its own website. The program is supplemented by news, music specials from the NDR radio programs, a daily concert (NDR Blue in Concert) and jazz broadcasts. There are also repetitions from the NDR 2 and N-Joy programs .

Since February 5, 2013, the program has also been broadcast via DVB-S (ARD radio transponder). Since February 6, 2013, the program has also been broadcasting via the DVB-C transponder optimized by the cable compression center of ARD , ZDF and Deutschlandradio (KCC). The carrier was activated at the beginning of February 2013. The station is actively filtered by Vodafone Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia due to the dispute with the public broadcasters.
