Localization of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany

The Züssow transmitter is a Deutsche Telekom transmitter mast near the Moeckow district of the municipality of Karlsburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which, together with the transmitter mast near Garz / Rügen, is the second tallest structure in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In contrast to these, however, it is only used by a few radio services.

The Züssow transmitter has a 190 meter high, guyed transmitter mast east of the intersection of the B 111 and B 109 known as Moeckow Berg.

The previous tower in GDR times was lower and had a steel lattice mast that was only guyed with safety ropes. It was intended primarily for broadcasting radio programs, and it was also designed for radio relay at the time. Up until the 1980s there was an approx. 25 meter high wooden beam tower as a trigonometric point in its neighborhood, which was built at the base at a height of 54.8 meters above sea level. Because of this highest point in the whole area, the radio tower was set up here.

The mast is maintained by the Deutsche Funkturm GmbH ( DFMG ); Media Broadcast GmbH is responsible for broadcasting operations. Until the DVB-T switch in this region on December 5, 2005, the system was in operation as a pure TV station.

Since November 24, 2016, the Züssow transmitter has been supplying the Vorpommern-Greifswald district with digital radio in the DAB + standard.
