List of DAB stations in Germany
The following stations are currently in operation in Germany that broadcast radio programs in the DAB standard . This includes all stations that broadcast programs using the conventional MUSICAM coding method and the successor standard HE AAC v2 (“DAB +”). Only multiplexes operated under public law or commercially operated are listed. Test ensembles are not listed.
National
The nationwide DABplus multiplex (also called “Bundesmux”) went into operation in August 2011 with 27 transmitters. These start islands have since been expanded into a nationwide network of transmitters with 140 transmitters today. It is of particular importance because for the first time individual regions are supplied that were not yet reached by digital radio at the time and the DAB successor standard AAC (DAB +) was introduced for the first time in other regions.
The start of a second federal mux is planned for October 2020. Only private program organizers are represented in it. This federal mux is segmented into four regions with single-frequency networks on different frequencies in order to exclude the risk of collision in foreign broadcasting areas. In addition, the distribution area is limited compared to the first federal mux and the regional offers and will be concentrated on metropolitan areas at the start of the transmitter network. If it were broadcast via the basic network stations in rural regions, the financial outlay for the private operator would be greater for each listener that could potentially be reached.
As of July 16, the programs of the following operators will be broadcast on the following basic network channels.
