Radio Rüsselsheim (K2R) is a free radio, a non-commercial local radio station that can be received in Rüsselsheim am Main and the surrounding area. The transmission area around Rüsselsheim extends over the municipalities of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg , Bischofsheim , Hochheim , Flörsheim , Raunheim and parts of Astheim and Nauheim .

history

The radio project started as part of the cultural summer 1995 under the direction of the office for culture in the recording studio of Jörg Hemp. The “Office for Culture” assigned Axel Heydekamp to supervise the project. The association Radio Rüsselsheim eV, which was founded on March 3, 1995, was responsible. The founding members were: Peter “Pit” Weist, Holger Kraft, Georg Otto, Gerd Zink, Axel Heydekamp, ​​Markus Zahnjel and Stephan Wittekind. Axel Heydekamp became the first chairman, Markus Zahnjel his deputy and Stephan Wittekind cashier. Ellen Boyboks later took over the position of deputy, Katja Linsenmann and Dirk Eisenhauer joined as assessors.

About 90 volunteers produce programs for the radio. Marc Irmen is the program director. He coordinates the over 100 providers of around 40 different live broadcasts.

financing

The station is largely financed by funds from the Hessian State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (LPR Hessen). This state media authority uses part of the portion of the license fee that it receives to support non-commercial media projects. The club members also pay a monthly fee of 3 euros. Non-profit organizations support radio with 10 euros per month and companies with 20 euros.

The programs are a colorful mix of music, culture, politics and sport.
