Due to its close proximity to North Rhine-Westphalia , WDR also uses this system under the name Sender Wittgenstein .

Geographical location

The transmitter Biedenkopf is located in the southern part of the Rothaargebirge. It is located in the urban area of Biedenkopf around 2.3 km northeast of the Weifenbach district and around 660 m (as the crow flies ) southwest of the bagpipe summit in the Hatzfeld urban area at an altitude of 666  m . In addition to the transmission mast of the system, there is another transmission mast around 270 m west-northwest of the mountain peak .

description

A 210 m high guyed steel framework mast with a 1.8 m × 1.8 m cross-section serves as the antenna carrier, the mast stands on a sphere. It has served as a replacement for a tubular steel mast with articulated intermediate insulation since 1982. He is surrounded by the area of a radio station . Until a few years ago, the radio station was manned 24 hours a day.

Until June 30, 1987 WDR 3 was also broadcast on 95.8 MHz with 15 kW ND H. This frequency was moved to the Ederkopf transmitter on July 1, 1987 for WDR 1 . Since then, the frequency 88.7 MHz previously used for WDR 1 has been used at the Biedenkopf transmitter for WDR 3. The regional window North Hesse hr4_Nord was broadcast on the frequency 102.3 MHz by hr4 until April 2005 . Then hr-info was transmitted on this frequency. On February 11, 2013, there was a frequency rogue at Hessischer Rundfunk, as a result of which hr2 lost, among other things, the 99.6 MHz frequency at the Biedenkopf transmitter without replacement. Instead, hr-info switched to this frequency and the 102.3 MHz freed up frequency went to YOU FM.

Digital radio ( DAB + )

Since 12 October 2016, the nationwide is Digital Radio - Multiplex disseminated via the transmitter Biedenkopf. The so-called Bundesmux is the nationwide uniform used channel 5C in frequency network transmitted (Single Frequency Network).
