The Gera telecommunications tower is a 127 meter high telecommunications tower belonging to Deutsche Telekom AG north of the A4 in the Gera district of Roschütz . The Gera telecommunications tower was originally a free-standing reinforced concrete tower, the top of which is now secured by guy ropes. In addition to radio programs, DVB-T programs are also distributed. It is also used to transmit directional and mobile radio.

Digital television (DVB-T2)

On September 26, 2018, the switch to the DVB-T2 HD system took place in Gera . The broadcasts are simulcast (Single Frequency Network) using different transmitter locations. The programs of ARD ( MDR -Mux), ZDF and the commercial offer from freenet TV ( encoded in Irdeto ) are distributed in HEVC video coding and in Full HD resolution.

Digital television ( DVB-T )

The broadcast of television programs in the DVB-T standard was discontinued on September 26, 2018. It took place until then in simulcast (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites. With the further switch to the DVB-T2HD system in Thuringia on April 25, 2018, the frequency of the multiplex ARD regional (MDR Thuringia) was changed from K27 (522 MHz) to K39 (618 MHz).
