ZDFmobil

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ZDFmobil was the name of the ZDF digital bouquet for digital terrestrial broadcasting ( DVB-T ). It contained part of the ZDFvision offer and took into account the technical peculiarity of the DVB-T standard that around four programs in the digital standard could be transmitted on the terrestrial frequency of a previous analog television station. The definition of four programs within this bouquet, which is common in Germany, was a compromise between the highest possible data reduction (compression) and at the same time sufficiently high image quality. It could be received by over 90 percent of the population in almost all of Germany. It aired from November 2002 and included the following channels:

vertical (V)

Single frequency network (SFN)

With the exception of the ZDF main program, all other channels broadcast with the lower image resolution of 704 × 576i. By August 2007, the ZDFdigitext (extended was Teletext ) as MHP - application software provided. Since this standard could not prevail among the recipients, its broadcast was abandoned in favor of the ZDF info channel.

On March 29, 2017, the metropolitan areas were completely converted to DVB-T2 in a second stage . Outside the metropolitan areas, ZDFmobil continued to broadcast via DVB-T until the respective changeover there. The third stage of the conversion took place by spring 2018, the fourth stage by spring 2019 at the latest.

The broadcasting of the ZDF stations is taken over by Media Broadcast via DVB-T2 . The ZDF channels share a Mux with freenet TV connect . The previous sharing of zdf_neo and KiKA does not exist via DVB-T2. With the discontinuation of DVB-T, the spread of ZDFmobil ended.
