History and description

The Habichtswald telecommunications tower, built from 1972 to 1975 (other information refers to 1973 to 1976), serves not only for directional radio and the non-public land radio service, but also for the distribution of VHF radio and TV programs. Its transmitter was put into operation on March 16, 1976.

Transmitter

The transmission system of the Habichtswald telecommunications tower broadcasts the VHF radio programs hr3 and hr4 -Nordost-Hessen (formerly Radio Kurhessen) via an antenna installed at a height of 146 m . Telekom is the only mobile phone provider to have LTE antennas on the telecommunications tower, which supply the surrounding region. LTE band 20 (800 MHz) and LTE band 3 (1800 MHz) are installed. Frequencies of 900 MHz and 1500 MHz are also permitted for mobile communications there, but are not used as of 05/2020.
