lulu.fm - the gay and lesbian metropolitan radio is a private nationwide radio broadcaster for homosexuals , bisexuals , transgender and intersex people - the LGBTIQ community. It is the only radio program for this target group with a nationwide broadcast license and terrestrial broadcasting via antenna. It is organized by lulu Media GmbH in Cologne .

lulu.fm broadcasts in several major German cities via DAB + , in Berlin , Hamburg and in the Rhine-Main area .

According to its own information, lulu.fm reaches more than 18 million people in Germany via DAB + . The station can also be received online.

program

lulu.fm broadcasts a full 24/7 infotainment program for, with and about the gay and lesbian community and brings more diversity to the radio. With daily LGBTI news, reports, stories, interviews, lifestyle topics and many music sections, such as B. the "Golden Gay Hit at half-past", "Best of Eurovision Song Contest" or "Divas in a pack of three". The program is broadcast from the lulu.fm loft in Cologne.

history

On July 1, 2012, lulu.fm began broadcasting as a music web radio. The first music sections were created. Since March 1, 2015, lulu.fm has also been broadcasting world news and new music tips every week. The company's own smartphone apps for iOS and Android have also been available since spring 2015.

In spring 2016, an application was submitted to the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM NRW) for a nationwide broadcasting license , which was granted in June 2016 by the Commission for Approval and Supervision (ZAK) of the 14 German state media authorities. Since October 1, 2016, lulu.fm has been broadcasting in Berlin / Brandenburg ( TV tower at Alexanderplatz ) and Hamburg ( Telemichel / Heinrich-Hertz-Turm ) via DAB + . On December 12, 2017, the Hessian State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (LPR) granted lulu.fm a broadcast license for broadcasting via DAB + in the Rhine-Main area upon application . On January 23, 2017, broadcasting began at the three locations Frankfurt / Europaturm , Großer Feldberg and Mainz-Kastel .

On June 3, the Saxon State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (SLM) allocated lulu.fm transmission capacity for Leipzig . Broadcasting started on January 31, 2018.
