The Telecommunications Tower Rosengarten is a 161 m high type tower built in the mid-1990s near Langenrehm in the district of Harburg in Lower Saxony . The telecommunications tower is about 120 m southwest of the summit of Gannaberg (approx.  155  m above sea  level ) - above the 149 m height line .

The tower is operated by the Deutsche Funkturm Society . There is FM radio broadcast. The public is not allowed.

Description and history

The Rosengarten telecommunications tower, which was built using reinforced concrete , has been replacing an old steel frame tower and a smaller type tower since the mid-1990s, which were then dismantled. The new building was controversial from the start, as the need for a higher tower was highly doubted by both the population and experts.

The tower has numerous directional radio and cell phone systems. VHF radio is broadcast by him. The transmission area extends from the greater region around Hamburg / Lübeck to the neighboring federal state of Schleswig-Holstein to the Kiel Canal and western Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The transmitter can be heard very well on the high bridges along the Kiel Canal and around Rendsburg . In addition, the transmitter has the function of receiving a ball for the signals from Lower Saxony's radio programs in Hamburg's New Elbe Tunnel .

After the conversion from DVB-T to DVB-T2, the 22-meter spire that was no longer required was dismantled in 2019.
