Karl Eugen Becker

Karl Eugen Becker (born August 20, 1932 in Saulgau ) is a German engineer, manager and honorary professor. He was president of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) from 1983 to 1988.

Life

Becker studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart . Here he joined the Corps Rhenania . He received his doctorate at the chair for machine design and automotive engineering at the University of Karlsruhe . After working as technical director for research and development at WMF , he joined the management of Werner & Pfleiderer KG in 1968 , and later became its chairman. In 1983 he moved to the top of the management team at TÜV Bayern . In the same year he started the five-year term of office as President of the VDI.

Under the leadership of Karl Eugen Becker, the southern German TÜVs merged to form the joint stock company TÜV Süddeutschland . He shaped the change in technical inspection from regional to global testing and certification. In 1998 he left the board of directors of TÜV Süddeutschland AG and switched to the supervisory board of TÜV Süddeutschland Holding AG as chairman.

Honors

Becker is honorary senator of the University of Stuttgart (1989) and honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich (1990) and honorary member of the VDI (1983).
