ERF Pop was started on April 1, 2009 as a pass-through internet radio from ERF Medien eV , whose core target group are 30 to 50 year old internet users.

Over the years, ERF Pop can also be received terrestrially, via VHF in the city of Wetzlar on the frequency 90.0 MHz and via DAB + in Berlin-Brandenburg on Channel 12D, in Hamburg on Channel 11C and in southern Hesse on Channel 12 C.

In January 2009, a survey was started in which the readers of the in-house program guide, Antenne, and the website were asked to help shape the channel's musical direction. In the newsletter that completed the survey, the main program The Morning was presented from 7:00 to 10:00. Until ERF Fernsehen was discontinued, it was also broadcast on television parallel to the Internet transmission, which accompanied the program with a studio camera.

The range of music on offer is mainly oriented towards the mainstream of so-called contemporary Christian music . The rotation only contains current titles, oldies are not played. Particular attention is paid to the respective “CD of the Week”, the individual tracks of which are presented in the daily program, some with German translation. The verbal contributions are kept short. “The program should be suitable for everyday use and at the same time spiritually and spiritually inspire.” On the hour there is news that is provided by an external editorial team.

ERF Pop broadcasts 10 hours of moderated live program daily, the rest of the time the program is automated. The team currently consists of 8 people, five of whom take turns moderating.

The broadcaster relies on interaction with the listeners. In the live moderated times, they can chat with the moderators via WhatsApp or send greetings via the website or their own smartphone app and request titles that are usually played within an hour.
