The transmitter Olsberg near Olsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis , North Rhine-Westphalia is a transmitter on the Olsberg in the Rothaargebirge .
Geographical location
The Olsberg transmitter is located in the area of the city of Olsberg in the northern foothills of the Rothaargebirge on the southern tip ( 701 m above sea level ) of the Olsberg ( 703.8 m ), which rises southeast of the Olsberg town center. Its transmission tower is about 430 m south-southeast of the mountain summit on the north crest.
General
The broadcast tower operated by Westdeutscher Rundfunk was built in 1984. A 58 m high, free-standing tower is used as the antenna carrier, which was erected as a tubular steel structure with a weight of 50 tons and a cross-section of 2.20 m in the lower part and 1.60 m in the has upper area. The transmitter closes reception gaps in WDR radio in the northern Sauerland and upper Ruhr valley. The WDR 3 program is not transmitted . The VHF programs are supplied by receiving a ball from the Teutoburger Wald and Nordhelle transmitters . In addition, digital radio in DAB standard is broadcast from this location .
Television signals were and are not broadcast by the Olsberg broadcaster.

Digital radio (DAB)
DAB or the successor standard DAB + is broadcast in vertical polarization and in single-frequency mode with other transmitters. On August 29, 2012 the change from DAB channel 12D to DAB channel 11D took place. The multiplex radio for NRW with the programs of the WDR and the cathedral radio with an output of 1 kW ERP is currently being transmitted via this ; until 2015 Radio Impala was also broadcast.
