Walter Fabics

Walter Fabics (born September 15, 1931 in Vienna ; † November 9, 2017 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1985 to 1987 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Life

Fabics lived in Stegersbach from 1932 and attended elementary school here. After that he worked as a worker and in 1962 became a party leader in the Stegersbach road administration office of the Oberwart building district office.

On September 22, 2011, Fabics was awarded honorary citizenship of the community of Stegersbach by the local council in recognition of his services to the community. In 1999 he was awarded the ring of honor of the market town of Stegersbach.

Fabics died on November 9, 2017. He was buried in Stegersbach.

Fabics began his political career in 1945 with the Socialist Youth in Stegersbach, of which he belonged until 1950. He then became co-treasurer of the SPÖ-Stegersbach and in 1962 took over the role of executive local party chairman before he was elected local party chairman in 1964. From 1972 he worked as a councilor of the Burgenland Chamber of Labor and from 1966 as a local councilor. In 1982 he was promoted to second vice mayor, in 1983 he took over the office of mayor , which he held until 1997. In addition, from 1965 he was a board member of the SPÖ district committee in Güssing . Fabics represented the SPÖ from October 1, 1985 to October 30, 1987 in the state parliament.
