The mast is the tallest structure in the Trier-Saarburg district . The mast was built in 1985/86 by the then Südwestfunk on the grounds of Gehöferschaft Schoden as the successor to the high in this area on 15 December 1961 in operation taken 110 meter transmission tower. After the new mast was completed, the previous transmission system was dismantled.
