Localization of Bavaria in Germany

The Hühnerberg transmitter has been located on the 570  m high Hühnerberg near Harburg (Swabia) since 1952 . It is a basic network broadcaster for radio of the Bavarian broadcasting company . The analog TV channel for ARD (Das Erste) on UHF channel 60 was switched off on the morning of November 25, 2008 as part of the switch to DVB-T .

From 1952 to 1965, a 49 m high freestanding steel lattice tower was used as the antenna tower, which is about 90 m to the south-west. From 1965 to 2014 a 212 m high guyed tubular steel mast served as the antenna carrier. This was blown up on April 1, 2014 and replaced by a new lattice mast with a height of 174 m. In the course of the new building, the free-standing steel lattice tower was also dismantled. The new mast was put into operation on November 3rd, 2014.
