Localization of Bavaria in Germany

The Ebersdorf transmitter is a broadcasting system of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation in the Ebersdorf district of the city of Ludwigsstadt in the far north of Bavaria. The transmitter previously served as a television converter for Das Erste until it was switched off in the course of the introduction of DVB-T .

In January 2010, the transmitter was reactivated to broadcast radio signals in the VHF range. This happened because of repeated complaints from citizens, as Ludwigsstadt was previously one of the few places in Germany where no FM radio reception was possible - due to the difficult topography of the Rennsteig and the basin of the city, neither Bavarian nor Thuringian FM radio stations could be heard there.
