Radio 8 is a private, local radio broadcaster from Ansbach , which was founded in 1988. The operator is the current wave Region 8 Programm- und Werbegesellschaft mbH . Radio 8 plays light music from the last forty years and provides information on local events.

Since July 4, 2017, the program can be received in all of Middle Franconia and neighboring regions via DAB + , Kanal 8C.

The program can also be received in the Ansbach area via VHF on 89.4 MHz, in the Weissenburg area on 88.5 MHz and in the Rothenburg area on 104.7 and 100.8 MHz. Radio 8 reaches an average of 50,000 people per day, most of whom are over 25 years old. Radio 8 can also be heard as a live stream from various providers on the Internet.

The name of the station is derived from "Region 8" ( West Central Franconia ), in which the station is primarily to be received via VHF (see planning regions in Bavaria ).
