The planning region West Central Franconia is one of a total of 18 planning regions in the Free State of Bavaria .

The planning region West Central Franconia is located in the western part of the Central Franconia administrative region. In the regional planning association, the independent city of Ansbach , the three districts of Ansbach , Neustadt adAisch-Bad Windsheim and Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen , as well as the associated district communities are united as corporations.

The regional center of the region is the independent city of Ansbach . Associated middle areas are Ansbach, Bad Windsheim , Dinkelsbühl , Gunzenhausen , Neustadt an der Aisch , Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Weißenburg in Bavaria . Possible middle areas are Treuchtlingen and Feuchtwangen . Sub-centers in the region are Scheinfeld , Uffenheim , Herrieden , Heilsbronn , Neuendettelsau , Bechhofen , Pleinfeld , Wilburgstetten and Wassertrüdingen . The small centers include Sugenheim , Burghaslach , Uehlfeld , Burgbernheim , Wilhelmsdorf , Markt Erlbach , Leutershausen , Flachslanden , Dietenhofen , Saxony bei Ansbach , Petersaurach , Windsbach , Schnelldorf , Dentlein am Forst , Gerolfingen , Merkendorf , Ellingen , Heidenheim , Markt Berolzheim , Nennslingen and Pappenheim .

history

In 1972 the Free State of Bavaria was divided into 18 planning regions on the basis of the Bavarian State Planning Act of 1970. The Regional Planning Association was established in 1973. The association's chairman until 2012 was the District Administrator a. D. Rudolf Schwemmbauer . Current Association chairman is the reigning district administrator of the district of Ansbach , Jürgen Ludwig .

The name of the local radio broadcasting for this region , based in Ansbach, Radio 8 , is derived from the planning region.
