history

Until the church is planted

The place was probably founded in the 10th century. A first settlement during the Franconian land grab is out of the question, as the terrain on which it stands is unfavorable. The place was first mentioned in documents in 1212, when Bishop Otto von Würzburg bequeathed his goods in "Urah" to the monastery in Heilsbronn . The place name contains the basic word ahe ( mhd. "River, water") and the final word ûr (mhd. "Aurochs"), from which the explanation results "waters where aurochs stay". Approx. 1300 the place is called for the first time "Pettersaurach". The addition refers to the patron saint of the Petersaurach Church, St. Peter. The first written mention of the parish of Petersaurach comes from the year 1390. In 1528 the Reformation was introduced in Petersaurach. After the Thirty Years' War, around 190 religious refugees from Austria found a new home here, which contributed significantly to the resurgence of the place.

The landlords and sovereigns in earlier times were the bishops of Würzburg , then the Gumbertus monastery in Ansbach and their bailiffs. In the course of time up to 1400 the Heilsbronn Monastery acquired all the farms in Petersaurach.

As early as 1560, teaching was held in Petersaurach, initially in the sacristan's house. It was not until the 19th century that the old school was built, a large school building next to the church in 1904 and a new school in 1956.

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Windsbach from 1608 55 teams are listed for Petersaurach: The 17 farms and 38 estates were subordinate to the Heilsbronn monastery administration office . There was also a communal shepherd's house and the rectory. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach . According to the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn monastery office, also from 1608, 58 teams are given (15 farmers, 43 Köbler ).

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 65 properties in Petersaurach (6 courtyards, 2 courtyards, 7 half-courtyards, 13 estates, 1 estate with forge, 18 estates, 1 bathhouse, 3 half-empty houses , 12 drip houses , 2 inns). The high court was exercised by the caste and municipal bailiff's office in Windsbach. The monastery administration office in Heilsbronn held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties. In addition to the property, there were also ecclesiastical buildings (parish church, parish), communal buildings (school, cow shepherd's house, pig shepherd's house) and stately buildings (Oberforster-Gütlein). At that time there were 59 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

19th century

In 1806 Petersaurach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Petersaurach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Höfstetten , Ketteldorf , Markttriebendorf , Neuhöflein , Petersaurach, Wicklesgreuth and Ziegendorf belonged. The rural community Petersaurach was founded in 1810 and was congruent with the tax district. It was subject to the Heilsbronn Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Windsbach Rent Office in the financial administration . In 1812 the Weiherhof was founded in the municipality . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Petersaurach was split into

  • Rural community Höfstetten with Neuhöflein;
  • Rural community Ketteldorf;
  • Ziegendorf to the rural community Altendettelsau ;
  • Markttriebendorf to the rural community of Betzendorf ;
  • Weiherhof and Wicklesgreuth continued to belong to the rural community of Petersaurach.

From 1862 to 1879 Petersaurach was administered by the Heilsbronn District Office , since 1880 by the Ansbach District Office (renamed the Ansbach District in 1938 ) and the Heilsbronn Rent Office (1920–1929: Heilsbronn Tax Office , from 1929: Ansbach Tax Office ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Heilsbronn until 1879, 1880–1956 district court Heilsbronn , since 1956 district court Ansbach . The community originally had an area of 10.213 km².

In 1818, Wicklesgreuth submitted a request to be allowed to form a separate political community with the Weiherhof. However, this was rejected.

In 1875 the community of Petersaurach was opened up by the railway of the main line Nuremberg – Ansbach. In 1894 Petersaurach got a train station on the branch line Wicklesgreuth – Windsbach.

badges and flags

The Petersaurach community has had today's coat of arms since 1982.

Coat of arms of Petersaurach
Blazon : “Split; in front a silver bar in green, covered by an overturned, slanted golden key; at the back divided by gold and red with two iron hats in mixed up colors. "

Yellow-green-white municipal flag

Justification of the coat of arms: The golden key comes from the lost coat of arms of Petersaurach as an attribute of St. Peter , who is the patron saint of St. Peter's Church . The iron hats are taken from the lost coat of arms of Großhaslach. They refer to the Counts of Oettingen , who originally had estates in Großhaslach. The silver bar in the green field is the coat of arms of the Lords of Vestenberg , who were of great importance for all three places.

Others

From 2004 to 2016 Petersaurach was part of the municipal alliance (Komm, A) to which the political communities Bruckberg, Dietenhofen, Heilsbronn, Neuendettelsau and Windsbach also belonged. Since 2016, the community has been part of the Allianz Kernfranken , which arose from the merger of Komm, A and LiSa (Lichtenau, Sachsen b. Ansbach).
