history
Until the church is planted
Remains of the Roman Limes , the so-called Devil's Wall , are still preserved in the municipality.
The place is mentioned for the first time in a document, which must have originated in the period from 1183 to 1195, as "Ahingen". The place name is based on the personal name Aho with the Old High German - Germanic suffix -ingen (= children, clan, relatives).
The Burgraves of Nuremberg and later Margraves of Ansbach acquired control of the municipality in the 14th century. The place was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . In addition to Ansbach, the county of Oettingen was also wealthy in the village. From 1418 these possessions were administered by the Oberamt Aufkirchen . After the Thirty Years' War, the community became the new home of numerous exile families from Austria who had to flee before the Counter Reformation.
Ehingen was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert the Fraisch over their goods. The village and township government had the box office Wassertrüdingen held. At the end of the 18th century there were 151 properties in Ehingen. There was also a parish church, a chapel, a rectory and a school house. Were landlords

From 1792 the Principality of Ansbach - and thus also Ehingen - was under the Prussian administration. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen .
In 1806 Ehingen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As a result of the municipal edict, the tax district and the rural community Ehingen were formed in 1809 , to which the mountain mill belonged. The Hesselberghaus was built in the municipality around 1950 .
The municipality of Ehingen had an area of 15.716 km² until the regional reform. In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the Wassertrüdingen Regional Court and the Wassertrüdingen Rent Office ( renamed Wassertrüdingen Tax Office in 1919 , Gunzenhausen Tax Office 1932–1973 , Ansbach Tax Office from 1973 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Wassertrüdingen until 1879, from 1879 to 1956 the district court Wassertrüdingen was responsible, from 1956 to 1970 the district court Gunzenhausen and from 1970 to 1973 the district court Dinkelsbühl , which has been a branch of the district court Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the Dinkelsbühl district in 1972, Ehingen came to the Ansbach district.

Blazon : “ Divided ; above quartered by silver and black, covered with a silver thistle flower; at the bottom split by silver and red with a growing picket fence in confused colors. "
Red and white municipal flag |
|
Founding of the coat of arms: The municipality of Ehingen has consisted of the formerly independent municipalities of Ehingen, Beyerberg, Dambach and Lentersheim since 1978. The picket fence points to the Limes, remnants of which are still preserved in the municipality. The crossing of silver and black is reminiscent of the burgraves of Nuremberg (and later Margraves of Ansbach ), who acquired control of the municipality in the 14th century. The colors red and silver come from the coat of arms of the Lords of Lentersheim , who had their headquarters in the town of the same name. The silver thistle is supposed to represent the geographic location of the community on the Hesselberg . |
