history

In 1229 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Widenbach". It was described there as a free farming village. The place name is derived from a water body of the same name that was previously used, the defining word of which is mhd. "Wîde" (= willow) or "wîdîn" (= from willow wood). It is thus a stream with willows .

The Heilsbronn monastery received goods there through a gift from Ulrich von Muhr Senior, Miles, and a monastery servant Konrad Steudner, through purchase from Heinz Wagner. Seven properties became taxable to the monastery. In the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn Vogtamt Merkendorf from 1616, 3 half-farms and 3 estates were specified for Weidenbach, which were subordinate to the Merkendorf administration office. The properties of other landlords are not given. The Fraisch held the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach .

In 1600 the neighboring farming village of Triesdorf was sold by the Lords of Seckendorff to the Margrave Georg Friedrich I of Ansbach . The margrave and his successors expanded Triesdorf into their summer residence. In the course of this renovation, the 16 Triesdorf farmers were relocated to Weidenbach. From 1682 major renovations began in Triesdorf, the White Castle was built and Triesdorf was surrounded by a brick wall, the so-called Red Wall. In 1624 Weidenbach was granted market rights.

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Ansbach from 1684 54 teams were recorded for Weidenbach: 3 properties were subordinate to the Hofkastenamt Ansbach , 34 properties to the Abbey Office Ansbach , 6 properties to the administration office Merkendorf , 5 properties to the Hochstift Eichstätt , 3 properties to the Lords of Crailsheim , 1 property Forndorf, 1 property belonging to the Teutonic Order and 1 property belonging to the Lords of Lentersheim . The high court , the village and community rulership and the shepherd's staff was exercised by the Brandenburg-Ansbach Abbey Office in Ansbach.

When Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander von Brandenburg-Ansbach took over the reign of the Margraviate, a second building boom began in Triesdorf. Alexander had a great passion for hunting. Triesdorf offered him a wide field of activity for his passion. Officially his seat of government was Ansbach, but because of his love for hunting he stayed in Triesdorf most of the time. Due to the constant presence, an extensive court was necessary. So an economy was founded that was supposed to secure the food of the court society. Many members of the court built bourgeois houses in Weidenbach in the classic late baroque style. In 1848 the estate became the location of the Royal Bavarian District Arable School Triesdorf.

At the end of the 18th century there were 64 subject families in Weidenbach, 54 of which were Ansbachian. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

In the geographic statistical-topographic lexicon of Franconia (1804) the place is described as follows:

Weidenbach, a large well-built market town with a very beautiful church built again in 1736, is 12  hour north of Ohrnbau, of which it was formerly a branch, near Triesdorf, and has 64 subjects, of which 5 are Eichstättisch, and the Oberland district - and Stadtvogteyamte Ahrberg Ohrnbau, which were awarded by the court in 1369.
This place received market rights in 1405, once had its own scooping dish, and owes the prosperity of the inhabitants to a large extent to the nearby Triesdorf, former summer stays of the Margrave of Ansbach. "

In 1806 Weidenbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, the tax district Weidenbach was formed in 1808, to which the places Esbach , Irrebach , Kolmschneidbach , Leidendorf , Triesdorf and Weidenbach belonged. A little later, the rural community Weidenbach was founded, which was congruent with the tax district. It was subordinate to the Herrieden regional court in terms of administration and jurisdiction and to the Herrieden rent office in terms of financial administration ( renamed Herrieden tax office in 1920 , from 1950: Ansbach tax office ). With the second community edict (1818) the division into

  • Rural community Esbach with Irrebach;
  • Rural community of Leidendorf with Kolmschneidbach;
  • Rural community Weidenbach with Triesdorf.

From 1862 Weidenbach was administered by the Feuchtwangen District Office (renamed the Feuchtwangen District in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Herrieden, since 1880 district court Herrieden , 1950 District Court Ansbach . The community originally had an area of 7.782 km².

Incorporations

Before the municipal reform , Weidenbach only had the municipality of Triesdorf. On July 1, 1971, the previously independent community of Leidendorf and its parts of the community were incorporated.

Population development

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population increased from 1944 to 2255 by 311 inhabitants or 16%.

badges and flags

Weidenbach has had its own coat of arms since 1983.

Coat of arms of Weidenbach
Blazon : Split by silver and black; in fronta curved green willow branchabove a lowered blue wave beam , behind a silver falcon soaring against it, holdinga golden plow knife in its claws. "

Green and yellow municipal flag

Justification for the coat of arms: The willow branch above the blue wavy bar stands for the place name. The colors silver and black are taken from the margravial coat of arms. The Ansbach margraves had their summer residence here. Margrave Karl Wilhelm Friedrich hunted falcons here. The falcon reminds of that. The plow knife indicates the agricultural structure of the municipality.
