history

In 1343 the place was named in the Salbuch of the German Order Coming Nuremberg . A fiefdom was under the Eschenbach municipal bailiff . In 1399, "Lewbendorf" is mentioned in a document in which the sale of ten local goods to the St. Gumbertus monastery in Ansbach was sealed. The Heilsbronn monastery acquired some fields and meadows there in the first half of the 15th century. During this time a church was built that was named after the apostles St. Peter and Paul . According to the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn Vogtamt Merkendorf from 1616, the Merkendorf administration office in Leidendorf was subordinate to two farms and one estate. With the Reformation in the 16th century, the place became Protestant under Margrave Georg the Pious of Ansbach and left the Catholic parish Ornbau in the diocese of Eichstätt. In the late 18th century was the branch Kirchdorf from 19 Untertansfamilien, of which 15 were ansbachisch, two had the eichstättische Stadtvogtei Office Ornbau as a landlord . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

In 1806, Leidendorf came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, Leidendorf was assigned to the Weidenbach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Weidenbach , which was founded a little later . With the second community edict (1818), Leidendorf became a rural community to which Kolmschneidbach and Nehdorf belonged. It was subordinate to the Herrieden regional court in terms of administration and jurisdiction and to the Herrieden rent office in terms of financial administration ( renamed Herrieden tax office in 1920 , from 1950: Ansbach tax office ). In the first half of the 19th century, the Rosenhof was built in the municipality . By 1846 at the latest, the previously independent rural communities Esbach with Irrebach and Weiherschneidbach were incorporated into Leidendorf. From 1862, Leidendorf was administered by the Feuchtwangen district office (renamed the Feuchtwangen district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Herrieden, since 1880 district court Herrieden , 1950 District Court Ansbach . The municipality had an area of 13,927 km².

From 1885 the place had its own school. The branch church, which stands free in the center of the village, had a roof turret on the western gable until 1881 and was added in 1891 to the east with a tower with an eight-sided gable helmet. In 1929, Leidendorf became a subsidiary of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Georg (Weidenbach) . To the north of the church there has been a "Schiller lime tree" since 1905, planted on the 100th anniversary of the death of the poet Friedrich Schiller .

On July 1, 1971, the community was incorporated into Weidenbach as part of the regional reform .

The Weidenbach-Triesdorf local history association holds an annual bread-baking festival at the Leidendorfer bread-baking house.
