The Ripping Friends is an American animated series that was created by the Canadian artist and animator John Kricfalusi and his partner Jim Smith and premiered on September 7, 2001 on the Canadian broadcaster Teletoon . The series ran for thirteen episodes until 2002 and was discontinued.

content

The Ripping Friends is a superhero parody . It tells the adventures of the heroes Crag, Rip, Slab and Chunk, whose superpowers only consist of their ability to withstand great pain. Much of the humor arises from stereotypical dangerous situations sparked by exaggerated versions of well-known supervillains and exacerbated by the heroes' incompetence. They have to master increasingly absurd difficulties and withstand greater loads. A recurring supporting character is “Jimmy The Idiot Boy”, which Kricfalusi invented for earlier projects.

Production and publication

The series was produced in 2001 by Helix Animation and Spümcø based on a concept by John Kricfalusi and Jim Smith . The music was composed by Steve London.

The first broadcast took place from September 7, 2001 on Teletoon in Canada and ran until January 26, 2002. From September 8, it was broadcast on Fox Kids in the USA, and was later repeated on Cartoon Network . CNX aired the series in the UK and a French version was also broadcast in Canada.
