Reviews

Dennis Harvey wrote in Variety magazine on January 26, 2004 that the film looked theatrical and unnatural. The plot is "peculiar" and "unclear"; predominantly the play of the main actors would make the film "viewable". Marie and Bruce are stylized and only occasionally psychologically realistic in depicting the “gap” between the two main characters. The music creates a “slightly surrealistic atmosphere” in an entertaining way, which impresses even though it doesn't address the viewer (“amusing musical choices to heighten a lightly surreal atmosphere that impresses even as it keeps the viewer at an emotional distance”).
