history
The place was first mentioned in 1361 as "Snellendorf". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Snello .
Schnelldorf was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 27 properties (7 courtyards, 3 half courtyards, 1 farm, 1 mill, 1 blacksmith's shop, 10 estates, 4 small houses), 1 community shepherd's house and 1 chapel, which was described as "ruinous". The authority of Schnelldorf in Hohenlohe-bartenstein held the village and community rulership and the land rulership over all properties . At the end of the 18th century there were only 23 properties left in the village. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .
With the Gemeindeedikt (early 19th century.) Schnellendorf was the control district and Rural community Oberampfrach assigned.
On December 21, 1971 the former municipality of Oberampfrach was renamed Schnelldorf.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipalities of Haundorf and Unterampfrach were incorporated on the occasion of the municipal territorial reform . On July 1, 1972, Gailroth and Wildenholz followed, until then independent communities in the Rothenburg ob der Tauber district . This is how the new Schnelldorf small center was created.
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population increased from 3,024 to 3,617 by 593 inhabitants or 19.6%.

Blazon : “Dividedby a red wavy bar; above in silver a looking, striding red-tongued black leopard with a bowed tail, below it is split five times by silver and blue. "
Black, white, and blue municipal flag |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: In addition to the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach, the Princes of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst and the Counts of Seinsheim can be proven as former landlords and court lords. The leopard, the heraldic animal of the princes of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst, as well as the division of silver and blue from the coat of arms of the Counts of Seinsheim remind of this . |
