history

Until the 19th century

The place name means something like "to the long Furth" and probably goes back to a place fortified with stones where the Sulzach could be crossed with a cart. Historically, Langfurth is still very young. In the 17th century there was only one mill "Auf der Langfurth". In the 18th century soldiers who had left the margravial service settled in Langfurth. But since they were without land, they lived in very poor conditions. In 1805, district director Freiherr von Lüttwitz bought 24 acres of fields from the farmer Ziehr in Oberkemmathen, thus ensuring that the settlers got their own land and could provide for their livelihood.

Langfurth was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . At the end of the 18th century there were 18 properties in Langfurth. The Ansbach administration office Forndorf held the village and community rulership . The landlords were the Forndorf administration office (1 mill, 1 Gütlein, 3 Sölden ), the Röckingen administration office (2 houses, 3 half houses) and the Wassertrüdingen caste office (8 half houses).

From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen . In 1806 Langfurth came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . In the course of the community edict, Langfurth was assigned to the tax district formed in 1809 and the rural community of Oberkemmathen , which was formed at the same time . In 1818 the rural community of Stöckau was established , to which Langfurth belonged. This was incorporated back into Oberkemmathen as early as 1823. The first school in Langfurth was inaugurated in 1849. The municipality of Langfurth was only given its name on November 11, 1968, when the name of the municipality of Oberkemmathen , which had long been overtaken by development, was changed.

Justification of the coat of arms: The Sulzach flows through the municipality of Langfurth, which is indicated by the wavy line. The sloping beams go back to the coat of arms of the Lords of Ammelbruch (1189–1510). The vertical red bar goes back to the shield of the Lords of Oberkemmathen (1167–1508). The influence of the Margraves of Hohenzollern on the area of today's municipality is symbolized by the Hohenzollervierung in the lower area of the coat of arms.
