About a kilometer to the west is the Rosenhof on the upper reaches of the Himmelreithbach . The place is immediately surrounded by arable land and grassland. In the northwest the field is called Birkenfeld, in the southwest Stockfeld and in the south Hochfeld. history

The place emerged in the 13th century as a monastery founded by the Lords of Kemmathen, who sat in neighboring Oberkemmathen. In 1311 the name Kemmathen was first mentioned in a document. Unter-Kemmathen, today's village Kemmathen, was not clearly mentioned until 1453. The place name indicates that there was a stone house with a fireplace here, what would be called a mansion today; The farmhouses at that time had no upper floor, were thatched and the smoke was drawn off through a simple smoke hole.

The local chronicle reports extensively of turmoil, looting, destruction and misery in the 16th and 17th centuries as a result of the Peasants 'War and the Thirty Years' War . Not only the farmers but also the monastery were robbed of their last possessions. In 1634 only five houses are said to have stood and there are said to have been no more cattle in the whole area.

The Fraisch over Dorfkemmathen was controversial. It was claimed by both the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen and the Oberamt Dürrwangen in Oettingen- Spielberg . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert them on their estates. The village and community rulership was disputed between the caste office Wassertrüdingen and the Oberamt Dürrwangen. At the end of the 18th century there were 59 properties in Dorfkemmathen. There was also a church, a parsonage and a school, shepherd and sheep house, which were subordinate to the commune. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen .

In 1806 Dorfkemmathen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the community edict, Dorfkemmathen was assigned to the Sinbronn tax district in 1809 . At the same time, the rural community of Dorfkemmathen was formed, which was given more powers with the second community edict (1818). The municipality had an area of 4.824 km².

The administration and jurisdiction of the municipality of Dorfkemmathen was subordinate to the Dinkelsbühl regional court and the Dinkelsbühl tax office ( renamed Dinkelsbühl tax office in 1919 , Ansbach tax office since 1973 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Dinkelsbühl until 1879, from 1879 to 1973 the District Court of Dinkelsbühl was responsible, which has been a branch of the District Court of Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the district of Dinkelsbühl in 1972, Dorfkemmathen came to the district of Ansbach.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Dorfkemmathen was incorporated into Langfurth on January 1, 1973.
