history

From the place-name ending –wend , one can conclude that the place is one of the Wendish settlements that were planned by the authorities in large numbers in the Middle Ages. In addition to the current form, the forms "Bernhardswinden" or "Berntswend" were also used in the past.

The Fraisch over Bernhardswend was controversial. It was claimed by both the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen and the Oberamt Dürrwangen in Oettingen- Spielberg . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert them on their property. The village and community rule was exercised by the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl. By the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties. Were landlords

There was also a church, a community pastor's house, and a community sheep house. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office Wassertrüdingen with the exception of the Eichstättischen Hinterersassen, who were initially subordinate to the judicial commission Neunstetten from 1802 to 1804 .

As a result of the community edict , Bernhardswend was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Sinbronn, which was formed at the same time . On May 1, 1978, this was incorporated into Dinkelsbühl as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
