Rentamt Windsbach

The official building

The Rentamt Windsbach was from 1808 to 1879 for the financial management of the District Court Heilsbronn (1862 district office Heilsbronn charge). The seat was the former margravial office (Hauptstrasse 13) and was chosen for purely pragmatic reasons, as there was no suitable room in Heilsbronn. In 1808 the rent office was divided into 20 tax districts. In 1857 the communities of Biederbach , Gerbersdorf , Heglau , Hirschlach , Merkendorf and Selgenstadt were transferred to the Gunzenhausen district court . The Windsbach Rent Office was still responsible for their financial management until September 30, 1865. On January 1st, 1880, the Rentamt Windsbach was dissolved. The seat was moved to Heilsbronn .

Historical side note

As a result of the German War (1866) it was feared that Prussian troops might move into Windsbach. Therefore it was ordered to bring the cash holdings in the fortress Ingolstadt to safety.
