geography
The Dorfbach flows through the village and flows into the Altbach in Mitteleschenbach as a left tributary. The Altbach is a right tributary of the Erlbach , which in turn is a right tributary of the Franconian Rezat . Approx. One kilometer south is the Hintere Mönchsberg ( 500 m above sea level ) in the Mönchswald. Approx. The forest area Tiefenschlag borders 0.5 km to the west and the Lindenbühler Hart forest area approx. 0.5 km to the northwest.
The district road AN 59 leads to the B 13 at Dürrnhof (4.7 km southwest) or to Mitteleschenbach (2 km east). A communal road leads to Adelmannsdorf (2 km southwest).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1148 in a document of the Heilsbronn monastery as "Selgenstat", 1157/61 as "(vicula) Seliginstat". The final word of the place name is the personal name "Salīgo". A person of this name is assumed to be the founder. The monastery gradually acquired 11 properties there and thus almost the entire place.
In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Windsbach from 1608, 10 teams were recorded for Selgenstadt: the 6 farmers and 4 Köbler were subordinate to the Merkendorf administration . There was also a communal shepherd's house. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach . According to the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn Vogtamt Merkendorf from 1616, the properties were classified as 6 half-yards and 4 estates. The Merkendorf administrator's office exercised community law and the shepherd's crook. Two houses burned down during the Thirty Years War and the other houses were deserted. Reconstruction only began 30 years after the end of the war.
Towards the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties and a community shepherd's house in Selgenstadt. The high court continued to exercise the caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach , while the administration of Merkendorf held the village and community rulership. The Principality of Ansbach was the sole landlord of all properties ( Kastenamt Windsbach : 1 tavern and smithy; Merkendorf administrator: 3 courtyards, 4 half-courtyards, 4 estates, 2 estates). There were 16 subject families at that time. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .
In 1806 Selgenstadt came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Selgenstadt was assigned to the Gerbersdorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Gerbersdorf, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Selgenstadt broke up with Adelmannsdorf von Gerbersdorf and formed a rural community. It was subject to the Heilsbronn Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and the Windsbach Rent Office in the financial administration . From 1857 to 1862 Selgenstadt was administered by the Gunzenhausen district court , since 1862 by the Gunzenhausen district office ( renamed Gunzenhausen district in 1938 ) and since 1865 by the Gunzenhausen rent office ( renamed Gunzenhausen tax office in 1920 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Gunzenhausen from 1862 to 1879, since 1880 with the district court Gunzenhausen . The municipality had an area of 4.699 km². On July 1, 1972, the Selgenstadt community came to the Ansbach district. On May 1, 1978, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, it was incorporated into Wolframs-Eschenbach.
