The Haselbach (coll. Haslach), a right tributary of the Bibert, flows through the parish village . Großhaslach lies between two forest areas, the Haslacher Forest in the west and the Ketteldorfer Forest in the east.

The district road AN 22 leads through the village to Ketteldorf (2.8 km northeast) or the B 14 (1.5 km south). A community connecting road runs to the district road AN 10 at Adelmannssitz (2.5 km west), another community connecting road leads via Steinbach (2.5 km north-west) to state road 2246 (3.8 km north-west). The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

history

Großhaslach is considered to be one of the earliest settlements between Ansbach and Nuremberg; according to tradition, there was a church there even before the year 800. However, it was first mentioned in a document on October 18, 1144, when a Countess von Öttingen donated the parish "Hasela" to Heilsbronn Monastery . The place name means "settlement on a river (=  -ach ), which is covered with hazel bushes".

In 1295 Albrecht von Vestenberg sold his goods and his castle at Großhaslach to the Heilsbronn monastery, in 1299 the Counts of Öttingen sold their goods to the monastery, so that the whole place was under the Cistercian monastery.

The parish church of St. Maria was built on the site of the old church towards the end of the 15th century. In 1783 the hall building designed by the margravial court architect Johann David Steingruber was rebuilt. In the so-called Bahrhaus, the medieval ossuary behind the church, there is a Romanesque font, probably from the 12th / 13th centuries. Century.

In the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn Monastery Office from 1608, 32 teams are listed for Großhaslach: the 8 farms and 24 Köbler estates (including 2 mills, baths and shepherd's house) were subordinate to the Heilsbronn Monastery Administration Office .

In the Oberamtsbeschreibung of the Principality of Ansbach by Johann Georg Vetter from 1732, the place is described as follows:

“Grosen Hasslach A village, were a Hochfürstl. Anspachl. Church, 1st parish and 1st Schuhlhauß, then 6th Baurenhöff, 4th half yard and sambt der Mühl, Würths- and Prau Hauß 29th Söldengüther, 1st Baad and 1st Hürtenhauß, so sämbtl. Belong to the Closter Hailsbronn and the toes half to the Closterambt - but the other helped to give the parish of Großer Haslach owed, in which parish also the little toe belongs. The municipality rulership, Vogthey and Kirchweyh protection has the Closter Hailsbronn, the Hochfraischl. High authorities, however, the local upper and caste office Anßpach. "

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 46 properties in Großhaslach (4 courtyards, 5 half courtyards, 2 quarter courtyards, 17 estates, 5 estates, 2 mill estates, 2 estates with baking rights, 1 tavern , 1 smithy, 1 bath estate, 6 empty houses ). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach , the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties was held by the Heilsbronn monastery administrator. In addition to the property there were also church buildings (church, parish) and communal buildings (school property, cowherd's house, shepherd's house). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach . At that time there were 44 subject families.

In 1806 Großhaslach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Großhaslach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Gleizendorf , Neumühle , Steinbach , Straßenmühle, Obere and Untere Mühle belonged. The rural community Großhaslach was founded in 1811 and was congruent with the tax district. It was subordinate to the Ansbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ansbach Rent Office ( renamed Ansbach Tax Office in 1920 ). In 1848 the Gütlershof was built in the municipality. From 1862 on, Großhaslach was administered by the Ansbach district office (renamed the Ansbach district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Ansbach until 1870, 1870-1879 city and district court Ansbach , since 1880 district court Ansbach . The municipality had an area of 13,982 km².

On May 1, 1978, Großhaslach was incorporated into Petersaurach as part of the regional reform .
