Külbingen (colloquially: Kilwing ) is a part of the municipality Petersaurach in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

The Rippbach rises near the village, a left tributary of the Haselbach, which flows into the Bibert on the right . Approx. 0.5 km to the northeast, the Höllgraben flows into the Rippbach as a right tributary. To the west lies the Hirn corridor, to the east the Wolfsberg and Bärental. Also to the west is the forest area Streitlach, to the southwest is the Lichtenau Forest.

The place is just north of the B 14 between Katterbach (1.5 km west) and Wicklesgreuth (2.5 km east). Communal roads lead to Frohnhof (km), to Vestenberg (2 km northeast) and a communal road between Thurndorf (1 km west) and Frohnhof (0.5 km northeast).

history

The ending -ingen of the place name suggests that the place was founded during the migration period in the 7th century. Georg Rusam assumes, however, that the place is part of the late settlements due to the poor soil conditions and the unfavorable location. The settlement was first mentioned in 1357 as "Kulbinggen". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Cholbo, which is to be assumed as the founder of the place.

In the Salbuch of the Nuremberg nursing office Lichtenau from 1515, only one Köblergut is recorded for Külbingen, which was subordinate to it. All other properties were subordinate to the manor Vestenberg of the Lords of Eyb .

In the Oberamtsbeschreibung of the Principality of Ansbach by Johann Georg Vetter from 1732, the place is described as follows: “A Weyler, where 9. Anßpachl. Subjects belonging to Vestenberg Castle, 9th Adelich Eybische, 1st Abbey Office Anßpachischer and 1st Nuremberg Lichtenauischer Hintersaß, including 1st common Hürtenhauß, are pastor to Saxony and owe their toes to Vestenberg Castle, as where the Vogthey and municipal rule belonged , the Hochfraischl. but high authority, this place has the local upper and caste office Anßpach. "

In the description of the Lichtenau Nursing Department from 1748, 19 subject families are recorded for Külbingen: one was subordinate to the Main Office of Saxony of the Nursing Department, the rest were subordinate to other landlords.

At the end of the 18th century there were 27 properties in Külbingen. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach , the village and community rulership was held by the Vogtamt Vestenberg . The landlords were the Principality of Ansbach (Vogtamt Vestenberg: 1 farm, 2 half farms, 1 half farm with farm, 2 estates, 1 estate with baking rights, 2 little farms, 1 smithy, 1 empty house ; Stiftsamt Ansbach : 1 half farm, 2 empty houses), the manor Frohnhof the Lords of Eyb (1 yard, 1 half yard, 4 estates, 2 estates, 2 half estates, 2 half houses) and the Lichtenau nursing office (1 estate). In addition to the property, there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, breaker's house ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach . At that time there were 23 subject families, 13 of whom were Ansbachian.

As part of the community edict, Külbingen was assigned to the Vestenberg tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Vestenberg, founded in 1811 . On May 1, 1978, Vestenberg (with Külbingen) was incorporated into the municipality of Petersaurach as part of the regional reform . In 1994 the village renewal and land consolidation began.
