Friedenskirche

The Friedenskirche is a church building in Wicklesgreuth . There is no independent congregation with a church council for the Friedenskirche. The church is used by the Evangelical Lutheran St. Peter parish in Petersaurach and, since 1978, by the Roman Catholic St. Francis parish in Neuendettelsau . Every second Sunday an evangelical service is celebrated, and once a month a catholic evening mass.

Building history

In 1961, a piece of land was purchased on which ten years later the Friedenskirche was built, which could also be used as a community center. It was built using prefabricated assembly methods and was identical to 20 other prefabricated churches within the Bavarian State Church. It was consecrated on January 17, 1971. In 1979 it was given an organ, and in 1987 a bell tower with three bells.

Building description

The hall has a rectangular floor plan and ends with a gable roof. In terms of construction, it can hardly be distinguished from a normal single-family house. The entrance is on the east, there are rows of windows on the east and west sides. The south and north sides are clad with wood. The inside of the hall is completely clad with wood. On the north side is the altar in the middle, to the left the organ, to the right an octagonal, chalice-shaped baptismal font made of wood.

To the south of the hall there is the single-storey tower with a square floor plan and a pyramid-shaped pointed roof covered with slate. The tower is accessible through a door in the east and has no windows. The bell storey is housed in the pointed roof and has two rectangular sound openings on each side. The three bronze bells were cast in 1986 by the Bachert bell foundry .
