Radio 8 , Radio Sputnik 8 or RS-8 is a Soviet amateur radio satellite that was developed and built by the central radio club of the DOSAAF . RS-8 wearing a linear transponder for the Mode A .

mission

The satellite was on 17 December 1981 together with RS-3 to RS-7 Russian with a Kosmos-3M - carrier rocket from the Plesetsk cosmodrome launched in Russia. RS3A in Moscow was named as the command station.

On August 26, 1985, a distance record of 6787 km between the stations N9CUE in Indianapolis ( QTH locator EM69xq) and DD0BI in Aurich (JO33rl) was registered via RS-8 .
