Radio 5 , Radio Sputnik 5 or RS-5 is a Soviet amateur radio satellite that was developed and built by the central radio club of the DOSAAF . RS-5 carries a linear transponder for the Mode A .
mission
The satellite was on 17 December 1981 together with RS-3 , RS-4 and RS 6 to RS-8 with a Russian Cosmos-3M - carrier rocket from the Plesetsk cosmodrome launched in Russia. RS3A in Moscow was named as the command station. On January 8, 1985, a distance record of 3,484 km was registered via RS-5 between stations N9CUE in Indianapolis ( EM69xq ) and HP1AC in Panama (FJ09gb).
