Radio Salü is a private radio station based in Saarbrücken .

history

The radio station from Euro-Radio Saar GmbH went on air for the first time on December 31, 1989 at 12 noon. At the beginning of the 1990s, the station operated the information program Antenne Saar and launched Radio Salü Gold as a DAB experiment in the new millennium (both programs have since been discontinued). Radio Salü also includes Classic Rock Radio , which has been around since September 2005.

At the start, Radio Salü advertised with the slogan “One station - all hits”. The music repertoire consisted of current music from the genres of black music , rock , dance and pop, mainly from the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. In radio circles one speaks of the CHR format. In addition, Radio Salü was committed to the music scene in Saarland with the daily newcomer program Local Heroes , which was moved to the Internet in the years that followed. Due to the proximity to the border with France, an increased proportion of French pop music also shaped the music program.

Over the years, changes in content and music followed, which should make the program sound "more mature". So the claim “Today's best and the mega hits of the 90s” was used. The proportion of German-language music was increased, dance and black music was hardly played at all.

The station is currently advertising “Saarland's best music mix” on FM 101.7 MHz and is primarily aimed at a target group between 14 and 49 years of age. As a hot AC music station, it is on the air 24 hours a day with news, service and information blocks with a regional character.

With young audiences, the station has been exposed to competition from Unser Ding from Saarländischer Rundfunk since 2003 and from bigFM Saarland (Skyline Medien Saarland GmbH) since 2005 . However, Saarländischer Rundfunk has a direct share of 20% in the capital of Radio Salü Euro Radio Saar GmbH. The main shareholder of the station is the parent company of the French station Europe 1 with 45%.

On December 1, 2007, Radio Salü was revised and has been using new jingles since then . The packaging was produced by JamXMusic from Hamburg in the “JamXMatrix” system, a flexible jingle package.

Most famous moderators

  • Andreas Türck : In the early 1990s, he moderated mainly on weekends and in the night program. Later he switched to RTL's regional program in Hesse, then presented the show Dalli Dalli on ZDF. At Pro Sieben, he hosted his own talk show .
  • Arabella Kiesbauer : At the end of the 90s she presented the weekly chart show “Network Charts”. The TV presenter became known through her daily talk show on Pro Sieben.
  • Franz Beckenbauer : After the turn of the millennium, Beckenbauer appeared several times as a Bundesliga expert.

Number of listeners / range

Radio Salü reached its absolute poll high in 2000 with well over 100,000 listeners per hour. The number of listeners is currently on the decline. They are currently between 60,000 and 80,000 listeners.

The station's market position in the online area looks much better. With 710,677 individual visits and 18,843,438 page views ( IVW , status: 08/2007), www.salue.de is ahead of its regional competitors.
