UNSERDING (until May 2016 103.7 UnserDing ) is the public young program of the Saarländischer Rundfunk in Saarbrücken in Saarland . The program is partly organized (late evening and night time) in cooperation with the young program of the SWR , Dasding . Martin Grasmück is the program director.
UnserDing started broadcasting on March 1, 1999. The program went on air as a youth multimedia project in close cooperation with the SWR youth radio DasDing.

program

The program of UnserDing focuses on a morning show ( Thurie and Jonas ) from Monday to Friday, from 5:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Our thing delivers compact messages ( The Info ), weather and traffic information every half hour between 5:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. and every hour between 9:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. The program is ad-free, but sends its own promotions in the form of trailers and moderating information. A contemporary hit radio format (CHR) is broadcast during the day. The themed hour from Monday to Friday has been discontinued, instead the Dasding Play starts at 8:00 p.m., on Sundays the UnserDing Starthilfe with newcomer bands from the region. From 9 p.m., UnserDing will broadcast special music programs:

• clubDING : House, Minimal, Techno, Electro (Sundays with Florian Schumacher)
• SCHWARZ: R&B, Soul and HipHop (Fridays with Fritzi Brandt)

In addition, the program takes over the programs “DASDING Play” (Mondays, Tuesdays: alternative, new music), “Heimspiel” (Wednesdays: music from Germany and the surrounding area) and “Office hours” (Thursdays: HipHop, R&B) from the partner station Dasding, as well as Tuesdays until Thursday from 23:00 to 01:00 the ARD radio talk Lateline . In September 2014, UnserDing received the German Radio Prize in the "Best Show" category together with the other young ARD programs. The joint production “Kanzlercheck”, in which the listeners were able to question the two top candidates for the federal election, Merkel and Steinbrück, was awarded.

Our thing is the responsibility of the program director Martin Grasmück. The UnserDing program itself is largely supported by freelancers. The program management team includes: Martin Grasmück (Head of Program), Zlatin Nikov (Editor-in-Chief), Ute Gent (Word and Information Layout), Frank Falkenauer (Music and Entertainment Layout), Nicole Stenger and Tom Poss (Music Editors).

Since December 17, 2003, the program has been broadcast terrestrially with 100  kW transmission power across the Saarland and in the bordering regions of Rhineland-Palatinate, France and Luxembourg on the name-giving frequency of 103.7  MHz from the Riegelsberg-Schoksberg transmitter location , the Media Broadcast . In Blieskastel (98.0 MHz, 5 kW) and St. Wendel (90.3 MHz, 100 watt) the program is distributed via support frequencies. The SR decided to broadcast the main frequency 103.7 MHz via its own transmitter Göttelborner Höhe . The Federal Network Agency granted approval for this on April 18, 2018, but no changeover date has yet been specified.

Before that, the medium-strong technical range (strongest frequency 105.0 MHz and 106.2 MHz with 5 KW) was achieved via various splitter frequencies.
The city frequency in Saarbrücken then went to JAM FM (today bigFM Saarland on these frequencies) and the medium frequencies to DeutschlandRadio Berlin (today Deutschlandradio Kultur ); the frequencies in Merzig and Mettlach went to Antenne West.

In addition, UnserDing can be received on digital radio via DAB + (Band III, Channel 9A).

UnserDing had its greatest success in 2014, when around 101,000 people heard UnserDing every day. This corresponded to a daily coverage of 10.9% (Mon-Fri, 5:00 pm). That was the best result so far in a media analysis by UnserDing. (MA 2014 / II) Between 60,000 and 70,000 people are currently listening to UnserDing (Ma 2018 / I).

Although UnserDing, unlike most other ARD waves, cannot currently be received via satellite, Unitymedia and Vodafone are feeding this program into their cable networks.

Halberg Open Air

With the Halberg Open Air, UnserDing organized the largest free pop music festival in the region every year until 2017. It took place on the last day of school before the Saarland summer holidays.

This was replaced by the SR Ferien Open Air St. Wendel . The SR is only a media partner and no longer an organizer, as the costs would be too high.
