The Offene Kanal Lübeck is a radio station whose program is designed by private individuals residing in Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg or the broadcasting area of ​​the Open Channels in Schleswig-Holstein (OKSH) and who are at least 14 years old.

The Lübeck Open Canal was an institution of the Independent State Agency for Broadcasting and New Media (ULR). The Open Canals in Schleswig-Holstein were separated from the ULR on October 1, 2006 and continued as an independent Open Canal Schleswig-Holstein institution under public law . On December 6, 2006, Peter Willers, formerly the ULR's representative for the open channel, was elected by the OKSH's advisory board as its head for seven years.

The programs are produced by natural persons, but also associations of persons or legal entities - such as local radio lübeck e. V. , which broadcasts numerous projects in the Lübeck Open Channel - can produce programs. In free courses, the users of the open channel can familiarize themselves with the technology of the station and then design their own program. Projects are live broadcasts from film festivals (Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Berlinale ) and book fairs (Leipzig, Frankfurt). In addition, media education projects are carried out with schools of all school types and youth centers and other institutions.

The moderators are responsible for the individual programs. Their names and place of residence are mentioned at the beginning and end of each broadcast. Anything within the framework of the law is allowed.

In the reception area, which includes the greater Lübeck area, there are 450,000 potential listeners. The program is broadcast by the telecommunications tower in Stockelsdorf on the frequency 98.8 MHz (106.5 MHz in the cable network). You can also hear OK Lübeck as a live stream on the okluebeck.de website.

Many presenters who now work for commercial broadcasters started in the Lübeck Offener Kanal.

Studios / technology

At the end of 2007 the station was completely digitized. Since then, broadcasts have often been placed at times when the studio on Lübeck's Kanalstrasse is not open.

Outdoor studios

The open channel has outdoor studios in Bad Segeberg , Ratzeburg , Bad Oldesloe , Mölln , Lübeck-Buntekuh, Lübeck-St. Gertrud, Lübeck- Travemünde and on the campus of the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences (St. Jürgen).
