The Herzogstandbahn is a 1388.35 meter long aerial cableway on the Herzogstand mountain in the Bavarian Prealps that was put into operation in 1994 to replace a chair lift . It leads in two cabins from Walchensee (Kochel am See) (valley station 809 m above sea level) to the Fahrenberg (1600 m above sea level). The shareholders of Herzogstandbahn GmbH are 51% of the municipality of Kochel a. See and 49% the Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen .

The Herzogstandbahn uses a suspension cable with 42 mm, a pull cable with 20 mm and a counter cable with 21 mm diameter. It is powered by a 185 kilowatt motor in the valley station. The Herzogstandbahn has 2 pillars that are 28 and 24 meters high. The travel time of the train, which has a top speed of 8 m / s, is four minutes.

The lift was built by the South Tyrolean company Hölzl Seilbahnbau . In 2018, investments will be made in a new control system and all electrical and safety equipment, electrical lines and the signal transmission system will be renewed. For the implementation of this EUR 500,000 investment, the railway was out of service from January 8 to March 23, 2018.
