The Ardview Hotel is a hotel in the Scottish town of Port Ellen on the Hebridean island of Islay . The buildings are located on Loch Leòdamais bay , around which Port Ellen hugs. On August 28, 1980, the hotel was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C.

description

The building is located on Frederick Crescent , one of the main streets of the planned town of Port Ellen, which runs around the entire bay. The opposite side of the street is not built up, as the bay begins after a narrow green strip, so that the hotel is visible from the water. The building faces the Rubha a 'Chuinnlein headland to the south . This is also known as The Ard , from which the name of the house (German: Hotel Ardblick ) is derived.

The building consists of two single houses built in closed construction, which today can no longer be visually separated. At most, the presence of two chimneys suggests this. The smaller house to the east is the older of the two. The facade of the Ardview Hotel is plastered in the typical Harling technique. On the ground floor there is an upper floor with two gables that end with a slate-covered gable roof . The exposed ceiling beams can be seen in the taproom.
