Rubha a 'Chuinnlein
Rubha a 'Chuinnlein is a cape on the south coast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . Together with Cape Rubha Glas , a few hundred meters to the north, Rubha a 'Chuinnlein marks the entrance to the bay of Loch Leòdamais . Parts of the north coast of Rubha a 'Chuinnlein are built on with buildings from the Port Ellen settlement founded in 1821 . The cape protrudes about 500 m from the island's land mass, pointing in a west-southwest direction.
The remains of a historical dun were probably discovered on Rubha a 'Chuinnlein , which is an indication of the early settlement of the prominent rock tip. However, the location of a fort is secured . The 36 × 12 m 2 area was surrounded by a 1.3–3 m thick wall. With the houses no. 144 and 145 Frederick Crescent are two listed buildings on the headland.
