history

The forecast after there was a settlement in the Haslital during the barbarian invasions by Sweden or Friesen. This story emerged together with many other founding legends in the context of the self-confidence of the individual places in what is now Central Switzerland during the Council of Basel , when the heroic legends of Sweden in particular attracted attention and were adopted by bishops from other regions: Schwyz therefore descended from the Goths in Sweden who were the first to adopt Christianity, the Upper Haslital was populated by Frisians who moved south with the Swedes, and the Huns moved to Uri. In the 13th century , the church of Meiringen was owned by the German emperor and was therefore free of the empire. In 1275 the Hasli formed an alliance with the city of Bern . After the loss of imperial freedom in 1310, the city of Bern took over the pledge in 1334. The Haslital became subject to the Bernese. In the Laupenkrieg in 1339 it provided a contingent of 300 men.

During the Reformation , the Old Believers dominated the Haslital, which Bern did not tolerate and forced the Reformation. At the time of the Helvetic Republic , the Haslital became part of the canton of Oberland .

After the constitution of mediation , the new order developed only slowly. In 1833 the Hasli area became the district of Oberhasli with the six communities of Gadmen , Guttannen , Meiringen , Innertkirchen , Hasliberg and Schattenhalb .

Political calm did not return until the Federal Constitution of 1848.
