Sangernboden is a place in the Bernese Pre-Alps , which politically belongs to the municipality of Guggisberg . At the end of 2007 Sangernboden had around 300 inhabitants.
geography
Sangernboden is located on the north bank of the Kalten Sense, one of the two source rivers of the Sense , on the access road to the Gurnigelpass , which connects the Friborg municipality of Plaffeien with Kirchdorf .
Local development
Due to the impoverishment of the mother community Guggisberg in the middle of the 19th century, a strong emigration of the population began. While Sangernboden still had over 1000 inhabitants at the beginning of the 19th century, it was just under 300 in the middle of the 20th century. A modest upturn thanks to hiking and cycling tourism then stabilized the population. Sangernboden has its own Reformed church and its own village school (now closed), in which children from the 1st to 9th grade were taught in multi-year classes. The Hotel Hirschen in the center of the village is in a certain sense the economic and cultural center of the place. The Schwefelberg-Bad , which belongs to the neighboring municipality of Rüschegg , is located above Sangernboden below the top of the Gurnigelpass .
traffic
Sangernboden's only public transport connection is the postbus line from Riggisberg over the Gurnigelpass via Sangernboden to Zollhaus ( Plaffeien ) and on to Schwarzenburg , with just three daily routes on this route.
