St. Maria Magdalena in Schiltberg

The Catholic parish church of St. Maria Magdalena is a monument in Schiltberg in the Aichach-Friedberg district .

The church of St. Maria Magdalena in its current form was built in 1773, whereby the medieval tower of a previous building was integrated. This has a square floor plan and is provided with a pointed helmet between triangular gables . The flat-roofed hall is structured by pilasters . A choir closed on three sides with oratorios on the sides has been drawn in. There is a sacristy annex on the east side. The frescoes from the year it was built are by Johann Georg Dieffenbrunner . In the choir they show Mary Magdalene anointing Christ's feet. The coat of arms of Karl Ludwig Joseph von Eptingen, a Blumenthal Commander of the Teutonic Order, can be seen above the choir arch . In the nave , the glory of Mary Magdalene is depicted with the cardinal virtues in the corners. The high altar and the pulpit in late rococo forms were created by Johann Anton Wiest around 1782 , presumably together with the side altars. The pictures of the Way of the Cross , oil on canvas, were created by Johann Wohlmuth in 1797.
