Altarpiece in the parish church of St. Adelgundis (Anhausen)

Dieffenbrunner was born into a family of craftsmen with many children. In 1746 he moved to Augsburg and learned painting in a school under the direction of Johann Georg Bergmüller (1688–1762). From 1751 to 1754 he worked in Augsburg, a. a. on the frescoes of the pilgrimage church St. Michael in Violau. From 1755 he worked in the Gutenzell monastery and in the Indersdorf monastery , where he mainly worked in the Nikolauskapelle (until 1759).

In the parish church of St. Adelgundis (Anhausen) he made three altarpieces. The painting on the left side altar shows St. Adelgundis as she receives the vestment from Jesus. The picture is signed by Dieffenbrunner with the year 1746 (“Dieffenprunner pinxit 1746”).

In 1765 he worked in the parish church of St. Martin in Kleinberghofen . He led a legal dispute about the payment , as they initially only wanted to pay him half of the agreed 400 guilders .
