Sulzdorf is a parish village and part of the market Kaisheim in the district of Donau-Ries in the administrative district of Swabia ( Bavaria ).

Sulzdorf with its former district Bergstetten was an independent municipality in the district of Donauwörth and was incorporated into the Kaisheim district on July 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria and added to the Donau-Ries district on July 1, 1972 with Kaisheim. Bergstetten now forms its own district.

The Catholic parish Sankt Margareta in Sulzdorf belongs to the deanery Weißenburg-Wemding in the diocese of Eichstätt .

history

Sulzdorf was first mentioned in 1035 in documents from St. Liutger ( Leodegar ) Count von Lechsgmünd and Graisbach († 1074). The village named after Suolz ( swampy terrain ) belonged to the properties of the St. Walburg Monastery in Eichstätt, which he founded .

On August 28, 1329 it was exchanged for other goods at the Cistercian Abbey in Kaisheim .
