The Burgstall Hofberg , also known as Schiltberg Castle , describes an abandoned hilltop castle at 503 m above sea level. NHN in the east of the village of Schiltberg in the municipality of the same name in the Bavarian-Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg .
history
On the 503 meter high elevation above the Weilach valley was a castle built by the Marschalken von Schiltberg around 1200 . Other sources date the construction time two hundred years earlier. The castle was destroyed around 1422 and the remains demolished in 1450. Traces of settlement in this place go back to the Neolithic Age .
Today the open-air stage of the Hofberg Open- Air Theater Association Schiltberg is located there .
