Rederzhausen fortification section

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The section fortification Rederzhausen (Am Stallaich) lies on a wooded ridge above the Friedberg district of Rederzhausen in the district of Aichach-Friedberg in Swabia . The ground monument of prehistoric times is on private property and is not open to the public.

description

Today there is a weekend house in the interior of the two-part ramparts . The area is fenced and not open to the public. The southern pre-area has been designated as a building area and has already been partially developed.

The outer moat system (approx. 150 × 80 meters) arched the castle square against the ridge. The eastern part of the facility is only indistinctly outlined in the area. A moat several meters deep can still be seen in the west, which continues to the north towards the edge of the slope.

On a topographical survey of the site by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation, the core work is documented in the north-west of the interior, which is surrounded by another arched rampart (approx. 70 × 40 meters).

The fortification is about 20 meters above the Paartaal (about 505 m above sea level). To the north the ridge drops steeply to the river.

Time and purpose

Until a professional archaeological investigation of the object can only be speculated about the timing and function of the small fortification. Perhaps this is one of the numerous smaller Hungarian fortifications in the Augsburg area. Such fortifications were often created through the expansion of prehistoric or early historical ramparts. A similar, from the Bodendenkmalpflege as hungary time interpreted Wallburg is located about five kilometers south at Kissing on the Lechrain ( rampart in Ottmaringer wood ). The relatively small core work could indicate an early or high medieval manor house. However, there are no references to this in the local historical sources either.

The Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments lists the ground monument as a fortification section of prehistoric times under the monument number D 7-7632-0044.
