The Obergriesbach Castle is located in Friedberg in Aichach-Friedberg ( Bayern ).

Obergriesbach Castle around 1700

Ludlof von Hahnreith built a castle and a St. Stephen's chapel in Obergriesbach in 1124. In 1468 Wigulaeus von Weichs took over Obergriesbach Castle (see gravestones in the parish church of St. Stephan) and in 1730 Countess Marie Violante Theresia von Thurn und Taxis bought the Hofmark. The Barons of Gravenreuth from Affingen have owned the Hofmark since 1831 (see coat of arms in the church) and the castle was mostly used as a widow's seat.

The former castle (forester's house) is an elongated hipped roof building from the first half of the 18th century (external appearance at the beginning of the 20th century). The associated farm building, an elongated mansard roof, dates from the beginning of the 19th century. The old judges' house, in which the keepers and judges of Hofmark Obergriesbach once ruled over the community, settled disputes and judged the morality of the community, became the palace café in November 1948. Not only from the surrounding area, but often from far away, the guests came to visit the old, renovated building with an artistically tasteful interior not far from the Obergriesbach Castle and the idyllic garden. A number of prominent guests, such as the Rockefeller heirs, Royal Highness Princess Pilar of Bavaria with Prince Ludwig of Bavaria , the former Prime Minister Alfons Goppel , etc. also visited the palace café. For several years now, the castle café has only been used privately.
